Great Manchester Run 2007

It was the Great Manchester Run today so I went along and took some snaps. There are some for Janet’s hotel, and some just for fun!

What a week! New job is going really well so far, and I’m actually looing forward to going to work on Monday morning! Had a busy weekend as usual. Got a couple of good photos from Lyme Park today, and Etherow yesterday. Oh yeah also got some more of the garden too.

Right too much to do… byeee!

New Job

I’m starting my new job with the Guardian Media Group in 10 hours. I’m very excited about it. As far as I’m aware I’ll be working with the Catalyst Framework which is  an MVC framework for Perl. I’ve been rewriting the Scout Group site using. It seems really really good, and exceptionally fast.

Anyway, I’m sure I’ll know more tomorrow.

Night Night…

Coniston, Cumbria

We went to camp in Coniston over easter weekend. It was freezing over night though! I managed to get a few good shots, but nothing amazing.

....Where did she wander.

Advertising Revenue.

I may not be the biggest subscriber to Microsoft products. In fact I reckon I use Linux 90% of the time. But this is something that has two benefits. Firstly it takes some revenue that Microsoft from those adverts they display to us in Messenger, and secondly it gives that money website to charity. Can’t be all that bad. Just click the link below to join in.

What a week….

Wow! What a week! On Wednesday, valentines day, I got engaged and on Tuesday I was called with an offer for a new job. I’m going to work for a large company based in the centre of Manchester. I’ll be doing Perl stuff, pretty similar to what I do now, but with more emphasis on development. I’m really looking forward to it.

We have got most of our wedding sorted already. Janet is out trying on dresses as I type. We are getting married at church (where I’m a scout leader) and then having the reception at the Midland in Manchester. If it’s good enough for the labour party conference it’s good enough for us ;)

Internet Shopping

I’m definitely an advocate of Internet shopping, however if anyone ever wants to purchase any technical gear I can certainly recommend not going to Dabs. One description for them that certainly springs to mind is an utter shower of sh*te. I placed an order for a dual tuner free view PVR unit from them on the 23rd January. I’ve still not received it. It is apparently with the couriers who are saying they can’t find my address and that I need to take it up with Dabs. Well contacting Dabs is nigh on impossible. I’ve emailed them with no responses. They don’t publish their phone numbers, I managed to find one from the couriers, but that just gave me an automated response, I used there live support system and was told to email them again. To say the least I’m a little peed off. Grrrr…. I just hope that this PVR unit is worth the wait!

Scout Camp

I’m sooo tired. Being full of a cold, and working every free minute on organising things for scouts winter weekend is taking its toll. Still, it’s going to be great. We have made all sorts of crazy things, including PowerPoint presentations, spoof satellite link ups, custom badges, laminated passports with their photos on, space jump suits. It’s all taken quite a lot of work really, but it should be great. I’m really looking forward to it. I really hope the kids like it! Right, well I’m off to bed. Night Night.

Hangovers…

Aren’t hangovers great? Well I don’t actually have one, but Janet does. We went out with all the scout leaders for our group meal. We went up to the Woodheys in Marple Bridge. I must say they accommodated us very well. They cornered off a whole section of the restaurant for us. The food was great. I had onion soup to start, rib-eye steak for the main and apple crumble for dessert yummy! Of course we had a couple of drinks too! Afterwards we made a visit to the Bamboo Club in Hazel Grove. For all of you who haven’t experienced the Bamboo you’ve certainly been missing a rare treat. It has sticky floors, and is populated with a very entertaining group of people. We met our next door neighbor there, which now means the last two times I’ve been there I’ve met him there. Leading me to believe he goes there a little too often!

Anyway, it’s scout camp next weekend, and we (the leaders) are going to be camping outside. Hopefully it’ll be below 0 and we will get our polar bear badge… I’m so cool!

Big London Town

Big Ben

Well I’m back from London. Had an excellent time acting like a tourist. We went on the Eye, visited Buckingham Palace, went to see a show etc. etc. I managed to take loads of photos. The hotels were superb, Janets job has its perks! I’m too tired to think of anything more meeningful to write.
